YOUTH TRAINING
My task is to coax a group of free thinking children
into a physical theatre and writing ensemble. To that end, we explore
the boundaries of our bodies, voices and imaginations in movement-based
improvisation and answer a series of simple questions designed to lay
the foundation for the performance of “Super Silly and Serious
Plays” or “Masterful Monologues”. We work moment to
moment as an ensemble figuring out, "What comes next?" at
each turn.
Every day leads us deeper into physical theatre
improvisations and our writing as we weave our bodies, voices and imaginations
to fit our creation. Once finished, we set the characters in motion
and rehearse. Our performance is as much a representation of the creative
ensemble as it is a piece of writing and acting. “Creative Expression”,
a class which focuses on the body and play, is a perfect way to prime
a child or group for the ensemble work.
