MICHELLE
Michelle was born and raised on the east coast.
During the transformative time of puberty, she realized the power of
speaking what was most important to her. This prompted her decision
to assist others in recognizing their voices. As a young adult her intuitive
abilities and somatic awareness began to open. Her understanding of
the feminine divine began with a vision which encouraged her to accept
the inherent pleasure of the physical world and reminded her that grace
and compassion are not to be feared. As a woman the feminine divine
has infused her life with a quiet certainty, a commitment to follow
her heart and a recognition of life's cycles.
In 1991 she moved to San Francisco to pursue acting
at the American Conservatory Theatre. Within weeks, she was introduced
to the Psychic Institute where she trained upon graduating from A.C.T.
She continued to blend the sacred and the theatrical as she trained
in movement based expressive arts at Tamalpa Institute; movement for
theatre in Viewpoints and Suzuki with SITI company; and bodywork with
Soma School. Her acting shifted from traditional theater and TV to solo
movement theatre performance and the writing of personal story. In 1995,
her first solo show brought all of her work together by examining the
power of story to heal and transform community.
Over the next eleven years she wove clairvoyance,
expressive arts and theatre into three education programs: an award
winning children's theatre company; a somatic awareness, play writing
and performance group for adults with developmental disabilities; and
her thesis work in spirituality and theatre, “Body Alive: the
clairvoyant body and being”.
She also worked as an assistant pastor and led
a Christian education program. She enjoyed the creative process of writing
sermons and sharing them with people. This experience also brought her
closer to the divine within herself.
Her clients and students have ranged in age from
four to sixty-eight. She delights in watching people of any age light
up as they share who they are.
She has presented her work at Santa Clara
University, New College of California, Body and Soul: Women's Healing
Conference, Shotwell Studios: Speak up and Dance, ODC: Wild Women Series,
Magic Theatre, Center Stage, California Theatre Center, Womongathering
and San Francisco Fringe Festival.
